Manchester United Names Michael Carrick as First-Team Manager Until Season End

London: Manchester United Football Club announced today the appointment of former player Michael Carrick as interim manager of the first team until the end of the current season, following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim earlier this month.

In a statement, the club’s Director of Football Jason Wilcox said: “Michael is an excellent coach and knows exactly what it takes to win at Manchester United.”

Carrick is regarded as one of the club’s most distinguished former players, having made 464 appearances for Manchester United during his playing career, in which he won several domestic and continental titles.

The club confirmed that Carrick will be supported by a coaching staff that includes Steve Holland and Jonathan Woodgate, expressing full confidence in his ability to guide the team through the remainder of the season as the club seeks to improve its performance in the ongoing campaign.
