    Explosion at Factory in Inner Mongolia Kills Two, Injures 84

    Beijing: Two people were killed, eight others are missing, and 84 people were injured following an explosion at a factory in north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, local authorities said today.

    The explosion occurred at a plate manufacturing plant operated by Baogang United Steel in western Baotou City, resulting from the blast of a 650-cubic-meter saturated water and steam spherical tank, according to local officials.

    Authorities stated that 84 injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment, including five in serious condition, as confirmed by the Executive Vice Mayor of Baotou.

    Following the incident, the local government suspended production at the affected plant and launched a city-wide safety inspection campaign targeting industrial and commercial enterprises.

    Investigations into the environmental impact of the explosion are ongoing. Initial monitoring conducted by environmental protection departments has indicated no adverse effects on surrounding air or soil quality.
