Muscat Nights Open Karate Championship Kicks Off in Muscat
Muscat: The 11th Shotokan Karate Center Open Championship kicked off today at the Ahli Sidab Club Hall in Darsait, as part of the Muscat Nights events, with the participation of around 400 male and female players from 10 countries, representing local and international clubs and academies.
The first day of the championship featured kata and kumite competitions for the junior and youth categories. The matches reflected advanced technical standards and highlighted the emergence of a number of promising talents across various age groups, amid a competitive atmosphere marked by enthusiasm and strong organization.
In the kata competition for boys aged 10, Jiyad Ahmed Al Fawir of Emperor Academy claimed first place, followed by Rafael Dos of Shotokan Karate in second, while Yassin Fawzi Al Shakili finished third.
In the boys’ kata category for ages 8, Aws Rabee Khafaja from Tower Team secured first place, Elon D’Souza of The Champ Sports & Art came second, and Asaad Al Fattah of JSK Oman placed third.
For the boys’ kata category aged 9, Zaidan Noushad of Emperor Academy won first place, Fakhr Asaad Al Zadjali of Shotokan Karate came second, while Aziz Al Siyabi and Mutaz Wahab of Samail Eagles Club shared third place.
In the kumite competition for boys aged 8 (25 kg), Ahmed Majid Al Sulti of the Shotokan Center won first place, Ahmed Al Qanami of Al Qudra Club came second, and Elon D’Souza and Adam Ahmed Al Wardi shared third place.
In the 8-year-old kumite category (30 kg), Aws Rabee Khafaja claimed first place, Salim Mohammed Salem Al Amri of the National Academy for Individual Games finished second, while Omar Ahmed Al Amri placed third.
In the 30 kg and above kumite category, Martia of the Talent Team secured first place, Aws Mohammed Al Nu’mani of Karate Champions Club came second, and Rashid Hamed Rashid of JCC Oman finished third.
In the girls’ competitions, Fara Vasim Asadi of The Champs Sports & Art Club won first place in the 10-year-old kata category, followed by Swara Atit Lodaya in second place, while Mayar Saddam Al Kamali of Tuwar Wood Center and Jaber Al Batashi of the Shotokan Center shared third place.
In the girls’ kumite category under 40 kg, Zara Asadi took first place, Darin of the Talent Team came second, and Wad Jaber Al Batashi and Nawar Al Shuaili shared third place.
Reema Saddam Al Kamali of the Tuwar Center won first place in the girls’ kata category for ages 8, followed by Deshani Bai in second place, while Sharifa Hilal Al Barwani and Dhruv Sarath shared third place.
In the girls’ kata category for ages 9, Sanvika Ashband of the Shotokan Center claimed first place, Razan Mohammed Mustafa of Tuwar finished second, and Naveera Geek and Yamama Shadhan Al Rawahi shared third place.
The first day concluded with the girls’ kumite competitions for ages 9 (30 kg and above), where Fatima Khalifa Al Rasbi of the Shotokan Center won first place, Sarah Islam of Karate Champions Club came second, and Adfeka Nair and Noor Ashraf Al Habsi shared third place.
