Saudi Arabia confirms first day of Eid Al Fitr 2026

Muscat: Saudi Arabia to mark Eid Al-Fitr on Friday, March 20, as the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted.

The moon-sighting committee convened to observe the crescent and verified its sighting, marking the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan after 30 days of fasting.

The announcement follows the Islamic practice of determining the beginning of lunar months based on crescent observation, which signals the start of Eid Al Fitr celebrations.
