Muscat: The Oman Basketball Association has announced the launch of the Athlete Preparation Centers League, scheduled to take place from 24 April to 16 May, as part of efforts to develop national talent and enhance integration between the education and sports sectors.
The league will feature six training centres established in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth across several governorates. These include A’Seeb and Al Amerat Sports Clubs in Muscat Governorate; Nizwa and Al Bashayer Sports Clubs in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate; Salalah Sports Club in Dhofar Governorate; and Sohar Sports Club in North Al Batinah Governorate.
A total of 150 players will participate in the league, with 25 players representing each centre, under the supervision of 14 national coaches.
Matches will be held at the secondary hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher every Friday and Saturday, with each centre playing two matches per week.
The league aims to support player development, enhance technical skills and provide competitive experience in line with the objectives of the Athlete Preparation Centers programme.
