Oman Beach Football Team Reaches Final, Sets Clash with Iran

Muscat: Oman’s beach football team will face Iran tomorrow in the final of the 6th Asian Beach Games, currently taking place in Sanya, China.

The match is scheduled for 4:30 pm Oman time, preceded by the third-place match between Saudi Arabia and Palestine at 2:00 pm.

Oman qualified for the final after defeating Saudi Arabia 5-4 in the semi-final, while Iran advanced following a 9-1 victory over Palestine.

The national team began its campaign with a 7-2 win over Palestine, followed by a 4-1 victory against host nation China, before securing a place in the final.

Head coach Talib bin Hilal Al Thanawi said that reaching the final reflects the team’s preparation and efforts, noting that the upcoming match against Iran will be challenging given the opponent’s experience.

He expressed confidence in the players’ readiness and affirmed that the team aims to win the gold medal.

Head of delegation Ishaq bin Abdullah Al-Balushi said that the team’s progress highlights the development of Omani sports and strengthens its presence in continental competitions.

He added that participation in such events contributes to improving rankings, gaining experience and promoting Oman’s sporting identity.
