Muscat Stock Exchange Sees Strong Weekly Gains Led by Financial Stocks

Muscat: The main index of the Muscat Stock Exchange recorded a gain of 210 points last week, closing at 8,369 points, recovering losses recorded in the previous week.

The rise was supported by gains in leading stocks, marking the index’s strongest weekly performance in four weeks. Sectoral indices also recorded collective gains, led by the financial sector index, which rose by 210 points. The industrial sector index increased by 123 points, while the services sector index rose by 84 points. The Sharia index gained 10 points to close at 656 points.

A total of 56 securities recorded price increases, compared to 22 that declined, while 21 remained unchanged.

The market value of listed securities increased by RO 351.3 million خلال the week, reaching RO 38.43 billion by the end of Thursday’s trading.

Trading value rose by 25 percent to RO 370.1 million, compared to RO 294.5 million in the previous week. The number of executed transactions also increased by 8.6 percent, exceeding 27,000 transactions.

Bank Sohar International led trading activity with a value of RO 79.2 million, followed by OQ Basic Industries with RO 75.2 million, and Bank Muscat with RO 53.8 million.

The Financial Center stock recorded the highest gain, rising by 37.7 percent to close at 124 baisa, supported by improved financial results in the first quarter.

Other notable gainers included Muscat Insurance, Dhofar Insurance, Oman Fisheries, and Salalah Mills.

On the declining side, building materials stocks recorded the largest drop, followed by shares of National Oman Engineering and Investment, Arab Falcon Insurance, Barka Water and Power, and Salalah Port Services.

During the week, the Muscat Stock Exchange also listed the 83rd issue of government development bonds, valued at RO 100 million, with an annual interest rate of 4.2 percent.
