    • Oman Aquaculture Investment Reaches RO 349 Million

    Muscat:  Total investment in the aquaculture sector in the Sultanate of Oman reached approximately RO 349 million by the end of 2025, reflecting continued growth in the sector.

    Data issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources indicated that new agreements exceeding RO 50 million were signed, expected to add production capacity of more than 15,000 tonnes annually, particularly in shrimp and marine fish farming.

    Aquaculture production reached 9,240 tonnes by the end of 2025, including 7,970 tonnes from commercial farming and 605 tonnes from integrated farming.

    Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Saeed Al Marzouqi, Director General of Fisheries Resources Development, stated that the sector is witnessing expansion driven by increased investment and improved production efficiency.

    He added that aquaculture activities in Oman include shrimp, marine fish, oysters, abalone, and seaweed, within an integrated production approach.

    Al Marzouqi noted that Oman aims to increase aquaculture production to 252,000 tonnes by 2030, supporting food security and economic diversification.
