Oman to Face Strong Rivals After Asian Cup 2027 Seeding
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has approved the official seeding for the draw of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup finals, scheduled to be held next Saturday in Riyadh.
The 24 qualified teams have been distributed into four pots based on the latest rankings.
Pot one includes Saudi Arabia (hosts), Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia and Uzbekistan.
Oman has been placed in pot two alongside Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Syria.
Pot three comprises Bahrain, Thailand, China, Palestine, Vietnam and Tajikistan, while pot four includes Kyrgyzstan, North Korea, Indonesia, Kuwait, Singapore and the winner of the Lebanon-Yemen play-off.
The draw will determine the group stage fixtures of the tournament, which Saudi Arabia will host for the first time from 7 January to 5 February 2027, with matches taking place in Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar.
