Muscat:  The Sultanate of Oman will participate in the 4th Gulf Games “Doha 2026,” hosted by the State of Qatar during 11-22 May 2026, with 11 national teams across multiple sports, including: aquatics (swimming), taekwondo, table tennis, women’s 3×3 basketball, bowling, shooting, athletics (track and field), fencing, billiards and snooker, volleyball and karate.

A coordination meeting was held today, attended by representatives of the national teams participating in the Games from sports federations and committees, along with the administrative and technical delegation and the accompanying media team.

The meeting reviewed the technical aspects related to the competitions, including the match schedule, venues, regulatory requirements for the Games, key guidelines and approved protocols during the event period, as well as the media guide, the responsibilities of the medical mission, and anti-doping procedures.

In this context, the organizing committee has finalized all arrangements related to participation, from the registration of sports, administrative, and technical delegations and the approval of final team rosters, to the logistical coordination of travel, accommodation, and technical equipment.

The aquatics team will compete with a delegation of four athletes, along with two technical and administrative staff members.

In taekwondo, the national team will participate with four male and two female athletes, alongside three technical and administrative staff members, as well as one demonstration sparring referee as part of the delegation.

The table tennis team will field one male and two female players, accompanied by two coaches.

The women’s 3×3 basketball team will compete with a delegation consisting of four players, plus two members of the technical and administrative staff.

The bowling team will compete with two players and one coach.

The shooting team will participate with a delegation of six male and six female athletes, along with four technical and administrative staff members.

In athletics (track and field), 11 male and five female athletes will compete, supported by six technical and administrative staff members, across various field and track events.

The karate team will consist of one athlete and one coach. The fencing team includes five male and four female athletes, along with three technical and administrative staff members.

The billiards and snooker team will comprise three players and two technical and administrative staff members.

The volleyball team will compete with a delegation of 16 players and eight technical and administrative staff members, representing one of the most prominent team sports in the Games.

The 4th Gulf Games (Doha 2026) will see broad participation from GCC states, with over 1,074 male and female athletes representing six Gulf countries competing in 19 diverse sports.

This edition reflects the event’s growing development at both organizational and technical levels, reinforcing its status as one of the region’s leading sporting events.

The competitions will take place across several sports venues equipped to the highest standards, including Aspire Dome, Khalifa International Complex, Hamad Aquatics Centre, Qatar Sports Club, Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, Duhail Sports Hall, Lusail Shooting Range, and Qatar Bowling Center.

As part of the Games’ overall identity, the organizing committee has adopted the slogan “One Gulf, One Heart,” emphasizing Gulf unity and strengthening sports and social bonds among the people of the member states. The official mascot, “Oshaiq,” inspired by the desert lynx, has also been unveiled, embodying the values of agility, precision and discipline while reflecting the region’s environmental and cultural identity.

The list of sports in the Games includes handball, table tennis, athletics (track and field), squash, padel, fencing, boxing, taekwondo, karate, swimming, billiards and snooker, basketball (5×5 and 3×3), shooting, archery, volleyball, equestrian, and bowling.
