LNG Shipments Drop to Lowest Level Since 2024 Amid Disruptions

New York: Global exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) declined in April 2026 to their lowest level in nearly two years, affected by disruptions to tanker traffic in the Middle East.

Bloomberg News reported that maritime tracking data showed global LNG shipments fell to about 33 million tonnes last month, marking the lowest monthly level since May 2024.

The decline followed a halt in LNG production in Qatar, the world’s second-largest exporter of the fuel. Data indicated that April shipments were 7 percent lower compared to the same month last year, with increased output from other producers, including the United States and Canada, partially offsetting the drop.

The Golden Pass LNG terminal in the United States shipped its first cargo during April.
