    Oman Refinery Sector Posts Stable Growth in Early 2026

    Muscat:  Total refinery production in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 0.2 percent by the end of March 2026, while motor fuel production declined by 9.3 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

    Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that production of regular gasoline (91) fell by 22.8 percent to 3.421 million barrels, compared to 4.434 million barrels during the same period in 2025.

    Sales of regular gasoline decreased by 1.5 percent to 3.791 million barrels, while exports dropped by 61.5 percent to 415,400 barrels.

    Production of premium gasoline (95) rose by 9.5 percent to 3.504 million barrels, while sales increased by 5.9 percent to 3.503 million barrels.

    Gas oil (diesel) production recorded a slight increase of 0.3 percent to 18.012 million barrels. Diesel sales rose by 5 percent to 4.434 million barrels, while exports increased by 0.8 percent to 14.887 million barrels.

    Jet fuel production grew by 8.4 percent to 6.684 million barrels. Sales rose by 19.9 percent to 1.127 million barrels, while exports increased by 7.6 percent to 5.448 million barrels.

    Liquefied petroleum gas production declined by 6.1 percent to 2.679 million barrels. Sales increased by 1.7 percent to 994,900 barrels, while exports fell by 2.1 percent to 824,500 barrels.

    Naphtha production increased by 1.1 percent to 9.001 million barrels. Sales rose by 13.3 percent to 3.612 million barrels, while exports declined by 2.9 percent to 5.922 million barrels.

    Production of other refinery products increased by 3.5 percent to 10.054 million barrels. Sales declined by 18.9 percent to 7.038 million barrels, while exports rose by 46.1 percent to 3.813 million barrels.

    Statistics also indicated that benzene production increased by 17.6 percent to 52,600 metric tonnes, while exports rose by 10.5 percent to 47,900 metric tonnes.

    Paraxylene production grew by 14.3 percent to 160,500 metric tonnes, while exports declined by 6.6 percent to 161,100 metric tonnes.

    Polypropylene production fell by 34.8 percent to 51,100 metric tonnes. Domestic sales increased by 26.6 percent to 9,600 metric tonnes, while exports declined by 22.8 percent to 47,200 metric tonnes.
