Britain Deploys HMS Dragon to Support Middle East Maritime Security

London: Britain and France are hosting a meeting of defence ministers from dozens of countries today to discuss military plans aimed at restoring maritime shipping movement through the Middle East.

The meeting comes amid ongoing international efforts to enhance maritime security and ensure the safety of navigation routes in the region.

Ahead of the talks, the United States and Britain held discussions on measures to protect navigation following the cessation of combat operations in the area.

Britain previously announced the deployment of the destroyer HMS Dragon to the region to participate in a multinational maritime mission, subject to operational conditions.

The British support ship RFA Lyme Bay is also being prepared to serve as a dedicated mine countermeasures vessel to help secure shipping lanes and support maritime safety operations.
