China Calls on Pakistan to Boost Iran-US Mediation Efforts

Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on Pakistan to intensify its mediation efforts between Iran and the United States and to contribute to restoring maritime navigation in the Middle East.

The remarks came during a telephone conversation held with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, according to China’s Xinhua News Agency.

Wang affirmed that China will continue supporting Pakistan’s mediation efforts and contribute to initiatives aimed at promoting regional stability and dialogue.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is expected to arrive in China later today. Beijing maintains strategic and economic relations with Tehran.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry stated that both sides stressed the importance of maintaining a lasting ceasefire and ensuring the normal continuation of maritime navigation in the region.
