Washington: The Pentagon announced that the total cost of American-led military operations against Iran has risen to nearly USD 29 billion, marking an increase of USD 4 billion compared to estimates released in late April 2026.
The US Department of Defense attributed the increase in expenditure primarily to the costs associated with maintaining and repairing military equipment, replacing damaged components and covering higher operational expenses in the region.
The department stated that the financial estimates remain subject to continuous review by the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Pentagon’s audit and financial oversight teams.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump’s proposed federal budget for fiscal year 2027 allocates nearly USD 1.5 trillion for defense spending.
