156 Camels Participate in Al Buraimi Camel Race

Al Buraimi:  The Al Buraimi Governorate Camel Race for the weanling category concluded today at Al Buraimi Camel Racing Track.

The event was organised by Al Buraimi Governorate in cooperation with the Oman Camel Racing Federation.

The race featured eight rounds with the participation of 156 camels from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The competition witnessed strong participation from camel owners and trainers, reflecting continued interest in camel racing as part of Oman’s heritage sports.

The race rounds were held over a distance of 1.5 kilometres and included six open rounds in addition to two symbolic rounds for male and female camels.

In the female camel symbolic round, the camel “Damar”, owned by Nasser bin Hamad Al Khamisi, secured first place.

In the male camel symbolic round, “Al Shababi”, owned by Salem bin Saeed Al Awaisi, claimed the title.

In the local rounds, “Al Sayha”, owned by Saeed bin Al Abd Al Awaisi, won the first round, while “Kharima”, owned by Salim bin Saeed Al Zarei, secured first place in the second round.

In the open cash prize rounds, “Al Shahiniya”, owned by Mohammed bin Dawood Al Tabai, won the third round.

“Shurut”, owned by Mohammed bin Saif Al Shamsi, won the fourth round, while “Shaheen”, owned by Yahya bin Abdullah Al Balushi, secured first place in the fifth round.

“Al Shahiniya”, owned by Mohammed bin Dawood Al Tabai, was awarded the “Governorate Sword” in addition to a vehicle and cash prize.

“Shaheen”, owned by Hamad bin Dawood Al Tabai, received the “Governorate Dagger” along with a vehicle and cash prize.

At the conclusion of the event, Sayyid Rashid bin Saeed Al Kalbani, Governor of Al Buraimi and patron of the race, honoured the winners and participating entities in recognition of their contributions to the success of the event.
