    Seven Teams to Compete in West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship in Oman

    Muscat:  The West Asian Volleyball Association (WAVA) has announced the match schedule for the second West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, to be hosted by the Sultanate of Oman from 12 to 21 July 2026 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

    Seven national teams will compete for the championship title.

    Oman’s national team will begin its campaign on 14 July against Lebanon in Group B. On the same day, Iraq will face Saudi Arabia, while Kuwait will take on Syria in the opening Group A fixtures.

    Competition will continue on 16 July with Iraq meeting Syria, while Oman will play Saudi Arabia in a key Group B encounter.

    On 17 July, Syria will face Qatar, followed by a match between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon.

    The group stage will conclude on 18 July with Kuwait taking on Qatar, while Oman will meet Iraq in its final group-stage match.

    A rest day has been scheduled for 19 July before the knockout stage begins on 20 July, featuring the fifth-place play-off and the two semi-final matches.

    The championship will conclude on 21 July with the third-place play-off and the final.

    The tournament draw placed Oman in Group B alongside Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, while Group A includes Qatar, Kuwait and Syria.

    The competition will be held under a single round-robin format in each group, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
