Oman, GCC States Discuss Stronger Cybersecurity and Digital Protection
Manama: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, participated in the fifth meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Cybersecurity of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, held in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain.
The meeting was attended by Their Excellencies and Highnesses, heads of cybersecurity authorities and centers in the GCC countries, the Secretary-General of the GCC, and a number of specialists from the Council’s General Secretariat.
The meeting reviewed updates on the implementation of initiatives under the Executive Plan of the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy (2024–2028), in addition to a number of issues related to the GCC cybersecurity framework and executive action plans.
The participants discussed ways to strengthen cooperation among GCC countries, implement joint initiatives to enhance digital protection, address growing cyber threats, and support the development of secure digital infrastructure.
The meeting also adopted the Gulf Guiding Principles for Cybersecurity and the Gulf Guiding Principles for Cybersecurity for Data, aimed at supporting common approaches to digital security and data protection across the GCC.
The Omani delegation was headed by His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Amer Al-Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology.
