    Pakistan Launches Polio Vaccination Campaign in Balochistan

    Islamabad:  Pakistan today launched a polio vaccination campaign in Balochistan Province as part of its ongoing national efforts to eradicate the disease.

    According to Radio Pakistan, the campaign targets high-risk districts across the province, including Quetta, Chaman, Qilla Abdullah, Pishin and Parshor.

    The campaign aims to reach more than 300,000 children under the age of 10, with health authorities urging families to ensure that their children receive the vaccine to protect them against polio.

    Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the only two countries in the world where polio is endemic.

    Polio is a highly infectious disease that can cause permanent paralysis. Although there is no cure for the disease, it can be prevented through vaccination, with multiple doses of the oral polio vaccine providing protection against infection.

    Health authorities continue to stress the importance of timely routine immunization and ensuring that children receive the required vaccine doses as part of efforts to eliminate polio.
