    • SalamAir Launches First Direct Muscat–Sylhet Flights

    Muscat:  SalamAir, Oman’s low-cost carrier, has launched its first direct flight between Muscat and Sylhet in Bangladesh, becoming the first foreign airline to operate scheduled services to the city.

    The new route marks SalamAir’s third destination in Bangladesh and further strengthens air connectivity between the Sultanate of Oman and Bangladesh, while expanding the airline’s network across the Indian subcontinent.

    The inaugural flight departed from Muscat International Airport with a load factor of approximately 70 percent, reflecting encouraging demand for the new service.

    Prior to departure, SalamAir CEO Adrian Hamilton-Manns and representatives of the airline met with Mahmudur Rahman, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Oman.

    Upon arrival at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet, the flight was welcomed during an official ceremony attended by representatives of SalamAir, airport authorities, government officials, aviation partners and the media.

    The new service provides a direct and affordable travel option between Oman and Sylhet, catering to the travel needs of the Bangladeshi community in the Sultanate. It also eliminates the need for connecting flights through other airports, helping reduce travel time and improve passenger convenience.

    Steven Allen, Chief Commercial Officer of SalamAir, said that the launch of the Sylhet service represents an important milestone in the airline’s expansion across the Indian subcontinent.

    He noted that SalamAir’s entry into Sylhet, as the first foreign airline to operate scheduled services to the city, creates a new international gateway while providing the Bangladeshi community in Oman with a more convenient travel option.

    The launch forms part of SalamAir’s broader network expansion strategy, which focuses on markets with strong direct travel demand and underserved communities. It also supports Oman Vision 2040 objectives by enhancing international connectivity and contributing to the development of the aviation and tourism sectors.

    Flights on the new route are available for booking through SalamAir’s website, mobile application, call centre and authorized travel agencies.
