Oman-KSA Coordination Council Advances Economic and Trade Integration

Salalah (ONA): The seventh meeting of the heads of the coordination committee in the fields of economy, trade, and industry, stemming from the Oman-KSA Coordination Council, was held today in the Wilayat of Salalah.

The meeting saw the participation of a number of entities of officials and representatives of concerned parties from both sides, aiming to enhance economic, commercial, and industrial integration and develop partnerships and joint initiatives.

Eng. Ghalib Said Al Maamari, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion for Commerce and Industry, affirmed that the historical relations connecting the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represent a firm foundation for elevating cooperation toward broader horizons, pointing out that the meeting aims to evaluate initiatives, assess achievements, and identify priorities to transition from the stage of ideas to actual implementation of projects and programs according to a clear methodology that achieves added value.

For his part, Eng. Rakan Trabzoni, Saudi Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Planning for International Economic Affairs and Head of the Coordination Committee from the Saudi side, explained that the meeting comes as an extension of continuous efforts under the umbrella of the Joint Coordination Council.

These efforts, he added, contributed to developing initiatives and supporting integration, praising the rapid growth, qualitative partnership, facilitation of customs procedures, and development of joint logistics infrastructure that contributed to increasing trade exchange volume and sustainable development.

The meeting also included the signing of the executive program to activate the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Economy in the Sultanate of Oman and the Ministry of Economy and Planning in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of economy and planning for the years 2026–2028, in a step aimed at enhancing enhanced cooperation and joint coordination in economic and planning fields between the two sides.

During the meeting, progress achieved in implementing joint initiatives between the two sides was discussed, alongside examining recommendations and future steps aimed at accelerating the pace of implementation and reducing challenges, serving mutual interests and enhancing the signing of agreements, memorandums of understanding, and proposals that enable expanding aspects of cooperation and deepening economic relations.
