Dubai (ONA): The Oman national men’s basketball team concluded its participation in the first window of the preliminary qualifiers for the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup, to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), securing a morale-boosting victory over their Nepalese counterparts with a score of 76–62 in the match held in the Emirate of Dubai.
Despite this win, the national team was unable to secure a qualification berth to the second round of the qualifiers, having suffered three consecutive defeats in its previous fixtures against the teams of Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE.
The national team had competed in the qualifiers as part of Group I of the West Asia region, which was contested under a single-round robin format and featured the participating teams of the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Nepal. The UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait secured the three qualifying slots to advance to the next stage.
