Al Mazunah Free Zone Records Over OMR 141 Million in Cumulative Investments

Al Mazunah: Al Mazunah Free Zone, managed and operated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), established four investment projects during the first half of 2026, with total investments exceeding OMR 620,000.

The projects, covering industrial, logistics and export-office activities, occupy a combined area of 2.415 million square metres, raising the zone’s cumulative investment volume to more than OMR 141 million.

The total leased area at the zone exceeds 1.4 million square metres out of the total allocated area of 15.362 million square metres, while the number of workers in the zone stands at 472.

Engineer Ahmed bin Khamis Al-Kasbi, Director General of Al Mazunah Free Zone, said that the zone completed preparations for its desalination plant during the first half of the year to provide water services to investors and began receiving applications for the service.

He added that the design work for the basic infrastructure of the fourth phase of the zone, covering 1.5 million square metres, has been completed.

Al-Kasbi pointed out that Madayn plans to implement a number of future projects at Al Mazunah Free Zone, most notably the zone’s sovereign gateway project and an internal irrigation network aimed at expanding green areas.

Future Investment and Infrastructure Projects

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Al-Kasbi said that a number of projects are planned during the current five-year plan, including an industrial incubator complex and specialised warehouses covering 50,000 square metres over five years.

The plans also include a study to establish a 1,000-square-metre refrigerated warehouse, opening a representative office for Al Mazunah Free Zone targeting the Yemeni market, and studying the signing of a memorandum of understanding to establish factories producing animal feed from waste generated by Al Najd farms, as well as factories for producing compound fertilisers.

Other projects include studying the development of infrastructure for a car complex comprising showrooms and public parking over an area of 50,000 square metres.

The zone is also working to add one megawatt of solar energy by studying solar-powered lighting and encouraging existing companies to convert 10% of their electricity consumption to clean energy. New companies will also be required to install renewable energy systems.

Al Mazunah Economic Exhibition and Forum

Al Mazunah Free Zone is preparing for the second edition of the Al Mazunah Economic Exhibition and Forum, scheduled to take place from October 20 to 22.

The event follows the first edition and aims to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen.

The second edition will seek to expand participation by local and international companies, provide opportunities to explore investment prospects and establish strategic partnerships, and enhance the presence of Omani and regional products and services in regional markets.

The forum will also highlight the role of Al Mazunah Free Zone as a gateway for trade exchange between Oman and Yemen and support efforts to attract service companies, factories, brand agents, car showrooms, import and export companies, logistics providers, food product suppliers and small and medium enterprises.

The event will provide a platform connecting investors and business owners and supporting cooperation and the establishment of joint projects.

Al Mazunah Free Zone represents one of the strategic pillars supporting economic and commercial development and serves as an important link with regional markets. It provides integrated infrastructure and investment incentives designed to attract investors and facilitate trade.

Among the incentives are exemption of profits from income tax for 30 years, exemption from the Commercial Agencies Law and customs duties, and the possibility of 100% foreign ownership of invested project capital.

These incentives contribute to strengthening investor confidence in the business environment and supporting partnerships between the public and private sectors.
