World Heritage Volunteers 2026 Forum Brings 30 Young Volunteers to Bahla

Bahla (ONA): Bahla Volunteers Team is organizing an 11-day forum as part of the World Heritage Volunteers 2026 Initiative titled “Working for the Future”.

The forum, which kicked off in the Wilayat of Bahla on 3 September 2026, focuses on a number of traditional crafts associated with the local community, including pottery, woodworks and artistic metalworks, among crafts that mark the cultural heritage, knowledge and skills passed down from ancestors to subsequent generations.

The forum is being held in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Ministry of Education (represented by Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Science), and the SMEs Development Authority (Riyada).

The event is being held with the participation of 30 local and international young volunteers from the Sultanate of Oman, Iran, Egypt, Russia, India, Italy and Spain.

The forum seeks to raise public awareness about the need to conserve world heritage, empower youth and local communities to participate in protecting heritage sites, foster heritage-related skills and provide a platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices in the fields of cultural heritage preservation and management.

The cultural and voluntary activities implemented within the “Cultural Property” forum in the state of Bahla embodied a cognitive and human experience that combines preserving traditional crafts and involving youth in protecting heritage and promoting cultural exchange between participants from the Sultanate of Oman and a number of countries of the world.
