Fukuoka (ONA): The Sultanate of Oman’s first national volleyball team lost its second match to its Australian counterpart by a clean sweep of three sets, in its second match within the Group One competitions of the AVC Men’s Volleyball Continental Championship (Fukuoka 2026), which qualifies for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and the World Cup.
The matches are being hosted by Japan until 13 September. The set results came at 18/25, 14/25, and 22/25. Oman’s national team’s players put in a good performance, particularly during the third set, which they lost by a margin of three points.
The national team had previously lost its first match against Japan’s national team by three sets to one. Oman national team is competing in this championship within Group One alongside the host team Japan, as well as Australia and Bahrain, and will face Bahrain’s national team in its next match on Wednesday, 9 September.
It is worth noting that the championship features the participation of 12 national teams: Oman national team, the Japanese team hosting the championship, along with Iran, China, Korea, Australia, Qatar, Bahrain, Thailand, India, New Zealand, and Chinese Taipei, divided into three groups.
The first and second place teams from each group, in addition to the best two teams ranked third, qualify for the semi-final round, which is played on a knockout basis leading up to the “Golden Square” matches, while the remaining teams compete in matches to determine places five through twelve.
