Kuala Lumpur: The Oman national beach soccer team was drawn into Group C alongside the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan for the 2026 AFC Beach Soccer Asian Cup.
The draw for the 12th edition of the tournament was held today at the headquarters of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in Kuala Lumpur.
The tournament will take place in Phang Nga, Thailand, from Nov. 18 to 28, 2026, featuring 12 teams divided into three groups of four.
Group A comprises hosts Thailand, Japan, Bahrain and Iraq, while defending champions Iran were drawn in Group B alongside Lebanon, Vietnam and Afghanistan.
According to the tournament regulations, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals, along with the two best third-placed teams.
Oman finished as runners-up in the previous edition, held in Thailand in March 2025, after losing to Iran in the final. The result marked Oman’s best performance in the competition since winning the title in 2015. The national team had also reached the semi-finals in the 2019 and 2023 editions.
Oman’s national beach soccer team is currently ranked first in the Arab world, third in Asia and 10th globally, according to the latest men’s national team rankings issued by the Beach Soccer Federation.
