Oman’s Domestic Liquidity Rises 15.4% to RO 29.3 Billion
Muscat: The effective exchange rate index of the Omani rial increased by 4.5% at the end of June 2026, reaching 118.3 points, compared with 113.2 points at the end of June 2025, according to data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The data showed that total domestic liquidity in the Sultanate of Oman reached RO 29.3288 billion at the end of June 2026, marking a 15.4% increase compared with RO 25.4107 billion during the same period in 2025.
Narrow money supply rose by 29.8% to RO 9.4105 billion, compared with RO 7.2512 billion at the end of June 2025.
Total cash issued reached RO 1.6264 billion, up 4.6% from RO 1.5552 billion during the same period last year.
Foreign assets increased by 2.7% to RO 7.4965 billion by the end of June 2026, compared with RO 7.3029 billion at the end of June 2025.
Private sector deposits with commercial banks and Islamic banking windows rose by 11.8% to RO 24.4966 billion, compared with RO 21.9164 billion during the same period in 2025.
Total loans and financing extended by commercial banks and Islamic banking windows increased by 12.3% to RO 38.2472 billion, compared with RO 34.0695 billion at the end of June 2025.
Meanwhile, the average interest rate on total loans declined by 3%, reaching 5.325% at the end of June 2026, compared with 5.487% during the corresponding period of 2025.
