Pedro Acosta Wins Maiden MotoGP Race in Austria After Sprint Crash
Vienna: Spanish rider Pedro Acosta secured the first MotoGP victory of his career today by winning the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring.
The 22-year-old KTM rider recovered from his crash while leading Saturday’s sprint race to produce a strong performance in the main Grand Prix.
Acosta, who started from fourth on the grid, moved through the field before taking the lead from championship leader Jorge Martin on lap nine and maintaining his advantage to the finish.
Martin finished second, while Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium.
The victory marked Acosta’s first win in the premier MotoGP class after previously recording 15 podium finishes without a victory. It was also KTM’s first MotoGP race win since 2022.
Seven-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez endured a difficult race and finished fifth after starting second on the grid. The result left Martin with a 12-point lead over Marquez in the championship standings.
