Muscat: A promotion event showcasing tourism products and services offered by the Sultanate of Oman to visitors was organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism today.
The five-day event, held at Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, was opened under the auspices of Eng. Ibrahim Said Al Kharousi, Heritage Undersecretary.
The event, which sees the participation of tourism operators and developers, aims to consolidate ties among partners in the Omani tourism sector and their GCC counterparts—to help open new vistas of tourism in Oman.
Azzan Qassim Al Busaidi, Tourism Undersecretary underscored the significance of the tourism promotion event which, he said, projects the GCC market as the largest destination that “exports tourists to Oman”. As a result, a total of 1,085,828 tourists visited Oman from January to the end of September 2022, he added.
The GCC market, he observed, spurs growth in the tourism sector in Oman, distinguished in the region for its unique natural landscape, as well as cultural and historical diversity.
The event includes meetings, bilateral discussions and dialogues on tourism facilities, in addition to a field trip to some tourism attractions in Oman.
