Muscat: The Royal Oman Police said that the Muscat Governorate Police Command had arrested an Arab woman on charges of insulting and disrespecting of the Omani currency, after she posted a video on social media explaining that she committed this.
The police confirmed that they are completing the legal procedures.
It is noteworthy that Article 296 of the Omani Penal Code stipulates imprisonment for a period of no less than (10) days and not exceeding a month and a fine of no less than (100) one hundred Rial Omani and not exceeding (300) three hundred Rial Omani or one of these two punishments for those who contempt The country’s “national” currency.
