Oman’s ministry of labor discusses expat replacement job opportunities for Omanis in private health institutions

Muscat: The Ministry of Labor organized a joint meeting with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Health represented by the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions, during which the importance of activating plans for replacing private health institutions and participating in providing job opportunities for the national workforce was discussed.

The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Sheikh Nasr bin Amer Al Hosani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor for Labor, in the presence of His Excellency Redha bin Jumah Al Saleh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Dr. Mazen bin Jawad Al Khabouri, Director General of the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions at the Ministry of Health.

His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor called on private health institutions to cancel contracts for the subcontracting of the expatriate workforce and not to continue working with them, which will contribute in the next stage to providing job opportunities for job seekers.

His Excellency affirmed that the Ministry, in cooperation with the competent authorities in the Ministry of Health, is ready to provide training and qualification opportunities for the national workforce on the job to provide a trained and qualified national workforce in preparation for their replacement of the expatriate workforce, explaining that the Ministry works in coordination and cooperation with all government agencies supervising some economic sectors and various sectors to begin the procedures for replacing the expatriate workforce with Omani cadres.

The human resources managers of these institutions have expressed their willingness to cooperate with the Ministry in implementing replacement plans to ensure the provision of job opportunities for the Omani workforce, contribute to their stability, support the development and organization of the labor market, and handle employment contracts for sub-expatriates.

During the meeting, it was agreed to form a joint working committee between the Ministry of Labor, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the General Directorate of Private Health Institutions in the Ministry of Health and a number of human resources managers in the sector to study the challenges and difficulties facing this sector, and working groups that include representatives from private health institutions and specialists in the ministry to implement what Been discussed.
