Muscat: The Dakar Rally, the world’s toughest and most iconic off-road motorsport challenge, has announced Defender as its official car partner starting with the 2025 edition. The partnership, set to run until 2028, reinforces Defender’s reputation for extreme durability, engineering excellence, and unmatched off-road capability.
In Oman, MHD ACERE, the exclusive distributor of Defender vehicles, is thrilled to share this exciting collaboration with motorsport and adventure enthusiasts.
The Dakar Rally, originally known as the Paris-Dakar, has captivated motorsport fans since its inception in 1979. Conceived by French driver Thierry Sabine after a life-changing experience in the desert, the rally has grown into an unparalleled test of endurance, skill, and engineering. From its historical route from Paris to Dakar, Senegal, to its current base in Saudi Arabia, the Dakar Rally is a testament to the spirit of adventure and human resilience.
Starting January 2025, Defender will provide a fleet of its iconic vehicles to support the rally. This includes specialized Defender recce vehicles for route testing and transportation of rally officials and VIP media. The collaboration culminates in 2026, when Defender will field its first-ever factory team to compete in the grueling race.

The 2025 Dakar Rally, running from January 3-17, will traverse a challenging route across Saudi Arabia, culminating in the Empty Quarter, one of the most demanding terrains in the world.
