Muscat: The Oman Football Association nominated the legend Ali Al Habsi for this honor. Al Habsi is one of the most prominent stars of the Gulf Cup tournaments, as he began his first participation in Kuwait in 2003, and won the title of best goalkeeper in four consecutive tournaments from 2003 to 2009. He also achieved a distinctive record in the “Gulf 19” in Muscat.
The Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Arabian Gulf Cup Football (Gulf Zain 26), Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, unveiled a special initiative to honor the “legends” of Gulf football at the tournament’s final match next Saturday, 4 January, at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
In a press statement on today, Wednesday, Al-Mutairi emphasized that this honor is part of ongoing efforts to celebrate the rich football legacy in the region, promote sportsmanship among Gulf nations, and recognize the achievements of the legendary players who have brought glory to Gulf football and played a key role in elevating the status of Gulf championships.
