UTAS Hosts FICCI to Expand Oman-India Cooperation in Innovation, AI, and Entrepreneurship
Musca: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences today received an academic delegation from the Republic of India, represented by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), currently visiting the Sultanate of Oman.
The visit aims to explore avenues of cooperation in higher education and scientific research, as well as to strengthen strategic partnerships between academic institutions in both countries.
Dr. Said Hamad Al Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, emphasized the importance of enhancing academic relations and expanding cooperation between the two sides to support efforts aimed at building knowledge-based societies founded on scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
During the visit, several key topics were discussed, including opportunities for joint research projects in energy transition, decarbonization, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence.
The discussions also covered capacity-building through specialized workshops and training programs, student and faculty exchange programs, the establishment of joint research centers of excellence, and the sharing of research infrastructure such as laboratories and scientific testing facilities.
Additionally, mechanisms to support entrepreneurship through business incubators and accelerators were reviewed, along with the importance of integrating academic and industrial sectors to strengthen the innovation ecosystem.
The visiting delegation watched a presentation outlining the University of Technology and Applied Sciences’ journey, its key strategic priorities focused on innovation, research, and entrepreneurship, and the existing programs and initiatives supporting these objectives.
