Al Buraimi: The number of beneficiaries of social protection benefits in Al Buraimi Governorate reached 38,190 by the end of July 2026, according to statistics issued by the Social Protection Fund in the governorate.
The figures reflect the expansion of social and insurance coverage across the governorate’s three wilayats.
Hilal bin Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the Social Protection Department in Al Buraimi Governorate, said that the social protection system continues to deliver legally mandated benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
He explained that the childhood benefit accounted for the largest number of beneficiaries, with more than 29,000, followed by the elderly benefit with more than 4,000 beneficiaries. The family income support benefit had an average of 2,896 beneficiaries, while 1,379 beneficiaries received the disability benefit and 522 benefited from the orphans and widows benefit.
Regarding the geographical distribution, Al Shamsi said that the Wilayat of Al Buraimi recorded the highest number, with 33,868 beneficiaries. These included 25,738 children, 3,846 elderly beneficiaries, 2,617 family income support beneficiaries, 1,201 people with disabilities, and 466 beneficiaries under the orphans and widows benefit.
The number of beneficiaries in the Wilayat of Mahdah reached 2,056, including 1,354 children, 355 elderly beneficiaries, 201 receiving family income support, 97 people with disabilities and 49 beneficiaries under the orphans and widows benefit.
In the Wilayat of Al Sunaynah, the number reached 128 beneficiaries, comprising 88 children, 23 elderly beneficiaries, 12 receiving family income support, four people with disabilities and one beneficiary under the orphans and widows benefit.
In addition, 2,138 beneficiaries were distributed across the various benefits in the governorate’s three wilayats.
Regarding social insurance and the labour market, Al Shamsi said that the number of insured individuals in the government and private sectors, as well as the self-employed, reached 14,517 by the end of July 2026.
The number of registered private-sector establishments in the governorate also rose to 748. He noted that new insurance branches covering maternity leave, job security and work injuries are being implemented to enhance protection for insured individuals and employers.
Al Shamsi added that the Social Protection Department completed 12,903 transactions during the current year, including benefit applications, inquiries and insurance services. It also carried out 2,345 field services and 23 proactive services aimed at anticipating clients’ needs, in addition to participating in local community festivals and events.
He pointed out that the department’s branch in Al Buraimi was designed according to environmentally friendly specifications and is fully equipped to facilitate access for people with disabilities.
The branch also provides self-service devices and an integrated digital system comprising the electronic portal, the “Himaya” application, call centre and WhatsApp service. These services enable electronic linkage and technical integration with relevant authorities, helping accelerate the processing of requests and reduce the need for in-person visits and paper-based transactions.
Al Shamsi stressed that awareness efforts are continuing through programmes, introductory workshops and field campaigns in coordination with government and private entities and members of society.
The initiatives aim to raise awareness of the provisions of the Social Protection Law, eligibility requirements and available electronic channels, while enabling beneficiaries to access their rights and facilitating the use of social protection and insurance services.
