Atlético’s challenge was impacted when Nico González was sent off late in the first half, leaving the hosts with ten players.
Barcelona continued to press in the second half and secured the winning goal in the 87th minute when Robert Lewandowski scored from close range following a rebound from a shot by João Cancelo.
The result leaves Atlético Madrid in fourth place, while Barcelona moved closer to securing the LaLiga title.
