China confirms US president’s visit from May 13-15

Donald Trump will visit China from May 13 to 15 for talks with Xi Jinping, Beijing confirmed Monday.

The visit is expected to focus on tensions over trade and Iran, with US officials saying Trump will urge China to curb Iranian oil purchases while also seeking progress on tariffs and economic relations.

The trip, postponed earlier this year due to the Iran war, will include a state banquet and official ceremonies in Beijing. It marks the first visit by a US president to China since 2017.
