COVID-19: Oman to reimpose night movement ban from October 11, Supreme committee

Muscat: The Supreme Committee in charge of discussing the mechanism of dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid 19), within the framework of its continuous session chaired by His Excellency Mr. Hammoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, followed the developments of this pandemic, measures to prevent it and ways to limit its spread.

Reports related to the increase in the number of  cases and deaths due to Covid-19 of all ages, and the sharp rise in the number of people in hospital wards and intensive care beds (ICU), in an unprecedented way in the history of the health sector in the Sultanate, and the resulting dangerous situation that exceeds the ability of the health system and its workers to Dealing with this pandemic and other diseases.

In order to protect all members of society and to ensure the health sector’s ability to perform its duties, the committee decided the following:

1- Banning movement and shutting down all public places and shops from (8:00 pm) eight in the evening until (5:00 am) in the morning, starting from Sunday October 11, 2020 until Saturday October 24, 2020.

2- Shutting down all beaches until further notice.

3- Re-closing some activities that were previously reopened and did not comply with the established requirements, and the relevant authorities will announce their details at a later time.

4- Publishing the names and photos of the violators in various media platforms.

The Supreme Committee calls on everyone, especially youth, to fully adhere to all preventive measures at the individual and collective level, and to stop all family and social gatherings, and the relevant authorities will take all legal measures against the violators. May God Almighty protect everyone from all harm.
