Five Major Investment Projects Worth RO 1.95 Billion Launched in Dhofar
Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has announced five high-value investment opportunities in Dhofar Governorate worth approximately RO 1.95 billion through the “Invest in Oman” digital platform.
The projects span urban development, real estate, ecotourism, biodiversity conservation and marine tourism, and are being offered in cooperation with Dhofar Municipality, the Environment Authority, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
The largest opportunity is Future Salalah City, a major urban and real estate development project valued at around RO 1.9 billion and covering up to 10 square kilometres. The project will feature residential, commercial, healthcare, educational, recreational and hospitality facilities.
Another opportunity is the Sahool Al-Rathath integrated urban project in Atin, Salalah, covering around 470,000 square metres. It has an estimated investment value of RO 40 million, including RO 15 million in government investment, and is planned to include hospitality, retail, entertainment, business facilities and public spaces.
In the environmental tourism sector, the Botanical Memory Garden in Razat Plain covers approximately 1.5 million square metres, with an estimated investment of RO 4 million. The project aims to conserve rare and endangered Omani plants while supporting scientific research, education and ecotourism.
The Khor Sanaq Eco-Lodge and Visitor Centre in Hasik, Wilayat of Sadah, covers about 47,000 square metres and has an estimated investment value of RO 3.9 million. It will include an eco-lodge, visitor centre, wellness experiences and outdoor activities, alongside renewable-energy and low-impact environmental solutions.
The fifth opportunity is a diving club in the Hallaniyat Islands, covering around 5,000 square metres with an estimated investment of RO 1.5 million. The project aims to develop diving tourism and marine activities, including diving instruction, equipment rental, marine excursions and environmentally friendly accommodation.
The five projects highlight Dhofar’s diverse investment potential, drawing on its coastlines, marine ecosystems, biodiversity, natural landscapes and growing urban and tourism infrastructure.
Through the “Invest in Oman” platform, investors can access details of available opportunities, including project locations, investment requirements and potential, while connecting directly with the relevant government entities.
The initiative forms part of Oman’s wider efforts to promote investment opportunities across the governorates, attract local and international investors and transform the Sultanate’s natural and competitive advantages into value-added projects that support economic diversification and Oman Vision 2040.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality, said that Dhofar Governorate possesses diverse natural, geographical and economic assets that make it an attractive destination for investment across several sectors, particularly tourism, urban development and the green economy.
He explained that Dhofar Municipality is working to maximize these advantages through the development of quality projects that enhance quality of life, support economic activity and create a favorable environment for the private sector and investors.
Al Ghassani added that the investment opportunities being offered in the governorate represent an important step towards transforming its competitive advantages into value-added projects that contribute to diversifying the local economy and strengthening Dhofar’s position as a sustainable investment and tourism destination throughout the year.
For her part, Lamia bint Sultan Al Habsi, Assistant Director General of Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, said that the investment opportunities in Dhofar reflect the diversity of the governorate’s assets and its promising potential in urban development, real estate, ecotourism and marine tourism.
She noted that the “Invest in Oman” platform works in coordination with relevant government entities to identify and showcase investment opportunities, allowing investors to access information about each project, its assets and investment potential, while facilitating communication with the entities responsible for the opportunities.
Al Habsi said that presenting investment opportunities and connecting them with investors forms part of an integrated national system aimed at promoting investment in Oman and ensuring that promising opportunities are transformed into sustainable projects.
The Ministry continues to strengthen the competitiveness of Oman’s investment environment by developing an integrated investment-promotion system and coordinating with government and private-sector entities to identify and promote quality opportunities to local and international investors.
Through the “Invest in Oman” platform, the Ministry also seeks to simplify the investor journey, strengthen coordination between relevant entities, connect investors with project owners and provide the information required to support investment decisions.
The Ministry is focusing on attracting quality investments to targeted sectors, increasing local added value, expanding private-sector participation and leveraging the competitive advantages of Oman’s governorates to support economic diversification and achieve the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
