Document Authentication Services Launched at Oman Post Checkpoints

Muscat: Acting in cooperation with Oman Post, the Foreign Ministry today launched document attestation services in different governorates of Oman.

Mohammed Nasser Al Wahaibi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the project starts at Oman Post headquarters in the Airport Heights, Governorate of Muscat, and will later be generalized in all Oman Post branches in other governorates.

The services include attesting educational certificates, medical certificates, certificates of corporate project plans, certificates on military equipment usage and death certificates, as well as attestation of agencies, contracts, commercial invoices and contracts and civil certificates, Al Wahaibi added.

The beneficiaries can complete consular procedures by ratifying documents related to other government or private agencies, in addition to services of embassies accredited in Oman, said Al Wahaibi. This will save time and efforts, he explained, noting that Oman Post offices will apply certain charges against these services, he added.

He pointed out that the Foreign Ministry and Oman Post have an understanding about service rendered to beneficiaries wishing to avail quality, value-added transactions through the “Door-to-Door System” (without having to visit Oman Post branches) or finalize some transactions related to embassies in Oman.

Al Wahaibi said that these additional and quality services will be offered at competitive prices upon the request of the beneficiaries. The value of the fees charged against consular services at the Foreign Ministry will remain unchanged, he affirmed.

The ministry’s offices will remain available during the transitional phase for one full year from the start of the authentication services to evaluate the experience and address any issues that may arise or tackle aspects that may require a change in procedures.

Al Wahaibi spoke about another partnership with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn). The Foreign Ministry will continue to provide authentication/certification services for companies and investors within the borders of industrial estates in different wilayats of Oman, with the prime aim of streamlining procedures and enhancing investment in Oman.
