    Fifth Salalah Engineering Forum to Focus on Oman’s Clean Energy Transition

    Salalah: The fifth Salalah Engineering Forum will open next Tuesday under the theme “Energy Transformation Engineering: Applied Innovations for a Flexible Clean Energy Infrastructure.”

    Organized by the Oman Society of Engineers in partnership with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, the two-day forum will highlight national efforts to advance Oman’s energy transition and explore engineering solutions and innovations that support sustainable, reliable and flexible energy systems.

    The forum will bring together regional and international experts to discuss developments in the integration of renewable energy and storage, grid flexibility, artificial intelligence, decarbonization, low-carbon hydrogen, energy efficiency and the circular economy.

    Engineer Saeed bin Mohammed Al Maktoumi, Chairman of the Energy Committee at the Oman Society of Engineers, said the forum reflects the Society’s efforts to strengthen the contribution of engineering to sustainable development and expand its initiatives beyond Muscat Governorate.

    He noted that the forum will focus on four main themes: renewable energy integration and storage, grid resilience and artificial intelligence, decarbonization and low-carbon hydrogen, and energy efficiency and the circular economy.

    The programme will feature 31 speakers and panelists, along with more than 22 scientific papers presented across four specialized sessions. Two dialogue sessions will also address challenges and opportunities associated with the transition towards more sustainable and resilient energy systems.

    The forum is expected to attract experts, specialists and decision-makers from various sectors, supporting cooperation and knowledge exchange in line with Oman’s energy-transition objectives and the Oman 2040 Vision.

    An accompanying exhibition will showcase initiatives, solutions and specialized programmes from private and academic institutions in the engineering and energy sectors.

    The exhibition will also feature eight graduation projects from eight Omani universities competing for the “Energy Horizon 2026” Award for the best graduation project. The projects will present engineering solutions and innovations aimed at supporting energy transformation and sustainability while strengthening links between academic institutions and industry.
