Two citizens faces fine and jail-term for damaging green vegetation cover in Dhofar.
Muscat: The Criminal Court in the Dhofar Governorate has convicted citizens for committing misdemeanor acts of demonstrating the vehicles in non-designated places for this, and the misdemeanor of engaging in an activity that harms the quantity and quality of vegetation cover in Dhofar.
The court ruled to punish each of them for the first misdemeanor with two months imprisonment and a fine of 300 Omani riyals, and for the second misdemeanor, to one month imprisonment and a fine of 500 Omani riyals. They also been assigned to, afforestation works in facilities, roads and public places in the state for a period of one month working four hours per day.
The details of the case are due, when a citizen received a notification regarding the defendants presenting their vehicles in the green plain, which damaged the vegetation, so they were investigated and they were referred to the Court of First Instance.
