Drone Strike Triggers Fire at Tuapse Refinery on Black Sea Coast

Moscow: A fire broke out at the Tuapse oil refinery on Russia’s Black Sea coast following a drone attack, according to Russian authorities.

Officials in the Tuapse district ordered the evacuation of nearby streets due to concerns over the spread of the fire.

The refinery had previously been targeted in a similar incident that resulted in an oil spill and a fire that lasted several days.

The Ukrainian military said it carried out a drone strike on the facility overnight, which led to the outbreak of the fire.

The port of Tuapse is a key hub in southern Russia, handling exports of petroleum products as well as dry bulk cargo, including coal and fertilisers. It also hosts a major refinery owned by Rosneft, with a production capacity of around 240,000 barrels per day.
