Fish market in Salalah reopens its doors

Muscat:The Directorate-General of Fisheries in Dhofar Governorate announced the reopening of the fish market in the state of Salalah last week, after preparing it and equipping it with all precautionary measures for the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid 19), after the approval of the Supreme Committee.

The Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources, represented by the General Directorate of Fish Resources, has been keen to take the necessary steps to implement the necessary precautionary measures to be taken before the market opens for the safety of workers and consumers.

Where labels and precautionary instructions to be taken by workers and consumers have been put in place, and all sterilization and other works are carried out.

Salem Jadad, Acting Director of the Fish Development Department in the Wilayat of Salalah, said: The fish market in the state of Salalah has been opened by following the necessary precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid 19), and market employees, in cooperation with security and safety personnel, organize entry and exit gates.

Jadad also stated that the market’s absorptive capacity is determined at the prescribed rate of 30% of workers and consumers within the market, in the interest of public safety.

He emphasized that work in the market during weekdays starts from eight in the morning until two in the afternoon.

The Ministry of Agricultural and Fisheries called on everyone to adhere to the instructions and precautionary measures that must be followed when entering the fish markets, the most important of which is adherence to wearing masks and the importance of spacing during shopping, as well as preventing the entry of individuals with a high temperature, and the entry of the elderly and accompanying children is prohibited, in order to ensure the safety of all.
