Gaza Needs More Than $30 Billion for Reconstruction Efforts

Gaza: The Board of Peace of the Gaza Strip stated that reconstruction efforts in the enclave will require more than $30 billion following the extensive destruction caused by the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

In a report submitted to the Security Council, the Board said that about 85 percent of buildings and basic infrastructure in Gaza were destroyed, while nearly 70 million tonnes of debris need to be removed.

The report noted that the ceasefire in Gaza has continued for seven months despite ongoing challenges and reported violations.

It added that humanitarian aid entering the Strip has increased by more than 70 percent since the ceasefire came into effect, although humanitarian needs remain substantial.

The Board also announced preparations for the deployment of an International Stabilisation Force across the Gaza Strip under unified US leadership.

Separately, a document issued by the Board revealed that tens of thousands of young Palestinians in Gaza have applied to join the police force.

The report indicated that the international community has pledged approximately $17 billion for Gaza reconstruction, while highlighting a significant gap between announced pledges and actual funds disbursed on the ground.
