GCC officials discuss reopening process for opening boarders

Muscat: Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Health in the Gulf Cooperation Council GCC countries convened their tenth meeting today (Thursday) via video communication to discuss the latest developments of covid-19

Dr. Saif bin Salem Al-Abri, Director General of Disease Surveillance and Control at the Ministry of Health, on behalf of His Excellency Dr, Mohammed bin Said Al-Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs representing the Sultanate participated in the meeting, and in the presence of Dr. Saeed bin Hareb Al-Lamki, Director General of Primary Health Care, member of the Executive Office of the Health Council for the Arab Gulf States and a number of  Officials of the Ministry of Health.

The meeting reviewed the minutes of the ninth previous meeting held by Their Excellencies  last July, and discussed the latest developments about cases and procedures in the Gulf countries.

The discussion of updating the precautionary measures after the reopening process, in addition to discussing the opening of borders and determining  PCR check points, as well as studying proposals on a mechanism for back to school, and reactivating the health programs (such as women’s health, childhood immunizations, and health programs related to non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Health in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States appreciated the great efforts that the members of the health sector in the GCC countries are currently making, and their tangible contributions in limiting the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid 19), and at the same time they praised the cooperation of community members and officials.

The undersecretaries urged the citizens and residents of all GCC countries to implement the infection control standards and avoid attending the gathering places as much as possible, and to maintain preventive safety measures followed in such cases, and stressed the importance of receiving information from official sources and no attention to rumors and unofficial social media channels.
