Muscat:  Most Gulf stock markets closed lower today amid renewed tensions in the Middle East, which weighed on investor sentiment across regional exchanges.

Dubai’s main index declined by 0.6 percent, impacted by losses in major stocks, including Emirates NBD, which fell 1.5 percent, and Emaar Properties, which dropped 0.9 percent.

In Abu Dhabi, the benchmark index retreated 1.4 percent, with International Holding Company losing 1.4 percent and Aldar Properties edging down 0.1 percent.

Qatar’s index recorded the largest decline among Gulf markets, falling 2.1 percent, pressured by a 3.8 percent drop in shares of Industries Qatar.

In contrast, Saudi Arabia’s benchmark index rose 0.4 percent, supported by a 1.5 percent gain in Saudi National Bank, the Kingdom’s largest lender by assets.

Shares of Saudi Aramco advanced 0.6 percent, benefiting from higher crude oil prices. Brent crude futures increased by $1.01, or 1.2 percent, to reach $94.19 per barrel.
