Jasim Abdulla wins Stage 1 Tour of Salalah

Stage 1 of the Tour of Salalah was won by Abdulla Jasim Al-Alli of UAE

Salalah:  UAE national team cyclist Abdullah Jassim won the first stage of the 2025 Salalah International Cycling Tour, the fifth edition of which is being organized by Dhofar Municipality in partnership with the Oman Cycling Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth as part of the Dhofar Khareef events. Mathias Brygenhoy from the Malaysian Terengganu Cycling Team came in second, while Sarawut Seri Ronachai from the Thai national team came in third.

The race started from Ain Razat to Khor Rori in Dhofar Governorate, covering a total distance of (108) kilometers, with the participation of 90 local, regional and international professional cyclists. At the end of the race, Khair Eddine Berbari, President of the Algerian Cycling Federation, honored the winners. UAE national team rider Abdullah Jassim received the gold jersey for topping the overall standings, the green jersey for leading in points, and the white jersey for under-23s.

Omani national team rider Mohammed Al Wahaibi received the gray jersey. Ishaq bin Abdullah Al Balushi, Board Member of the Oman Cycling Federation and Director of the Salalah International Tour, emphasized that the inclusion of the championship in the International Cycling Union (UCI) calendar represents global recognition of its status and grants it official international status, which strengthens the Sultanate of Oman’s position on the sports map and attracts wider participation from continental and international teams.

He added that the tour contributes to promoting tourism and sports in Dhofar Governorate, and reflects the Sultanate of Oman’s ability to organize events to international standards. It also provides a valuable opportunity for young people and volunteers to gain practical experience in managing major sporting events, enhancing their leadership and organizational skills and contributing to the preparation of a qualified sports generation to lead the future.

It is noteworthy that the Salalah International Cycling Tour 2025 will be attended by (15) teams from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman, and aims to support the tourism, hospitality, transportation and logistics sectors, and to highlight Salalah as a global tourist destination, in addition to its role in strengthening the local economy and encouraging the practice of sports as a healthy lifestyle.
