The Royal Opera House Muscat used to celebrate authentic Tarabic singing, by organizing more than one concert that saluted the symbols of authentic Tarabic Arabic singing, and Umm Kulthum stands at the forefront of these symbols.
In its season program (2022-2023), the Royal Opera House Muscat is happy to fulfill the desire of its audience to continue presenting The group of “Kulthumiyat” concerts, which began to be presented for the first time in 2015, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Kawkab Al Sharq Umm Kulthum, and the audience will follow the paragraphs of a distinguished evening of authentic rapture, with timeless artistic masterpieces that still top sales lists and media platforms despite the departure of Mrs. Umm Kulthum in 1975 .There is no doubt that the rich artistic legacy left by Umm Kulthum constitutes a challenge to the capabilities and talents of contemporary singers.
May Farouk, born in Cairo in 1982, had an early artistic start. She started singing at the age of eight when she joined the Selim Sahab choir at the opera, after her father and mother discovered her talent and helped her develop it. Her voice was associated with opera and operatic singing, which she grew up loving and learned. And she made her way until she was known for her performance of this type of singing that requires exceptional vocal capabilities, and she found her way in performing the songs (Umm Kulthum) because they are the most difficult.
As for the Tunisian Yousra Mahnouch, the audience knew her when she participated in the 2007 Super Star program and came in third place that day. The jury was impressed and praised her performance. She also participated in the first season of The Voice in 2012:The best voice on the MBC channel, and I got second place, and when she sang in 2013 the famous Iraqi song “Mayhana”, with a new distribution, it was very well received in the Arab world. In 2014, Yousra released the clip for the song “Banhar”, and after the song was successful in racing programs Songs across all Arab radio stations.
The beauty of the ceremony is complete with the participation of the musician Amir Abdul Majeed, a qanun player, composer, arranger and bandleader. He distributed and led the Royal Orchestra in a number of national works and national events. He practiced music distribution through his work in many melodies, especially Gulf melodies, and formed a private band that bore his name and went through the composing experience. He achieved great success in this field.
Audiences will enjoy this show at the Royal Opera: House of Musical Arts through two concerts on Friday and Saturday, corresponding to December 9 and 10, at 7:00.
