Muscat: The Military Technical College will host the World University Athletics (Cross-Country) Championships during the period (17-18) of this February, in cooperation with the International Federation of University Sports, the Omani University Sports Committee, and the National University of Science and Technology, and with the participation of (159) competitors and (60) coaches representing (21) countries from around the world.
In addition to hosting and organizing the tournament, the Military Technical College is participating with a number of players from the national university sports team of the Sultanate of Oman, where the first phase of the tournament was held today, including the short relay competition and the long relay competition.
The Military Technical College also participated in the exhibition accompanying the event, which included many projects, innovations and creative ideas for the college’s students. The exhibition also included a group of sections that aim to introduce its visitors from the various countries participating in the tournament to the tourist places and cultural heritage that the Sultanate of Oman abounds with.
In conclusion, Brigadier General Joy Engineer Mohammed bin Aziz Al-Siyabi, Dean of the Military Technical College, along with the President of the Omani University Sports Committee and the President of the International University Sports Federation, crowned the winning teams in the competitions of the first stage of the tournament, with the competitions being completed tomorrow, Sunday, in the Sports Complex at the Military Technical College.
It should be noted that the cross-country competition is organized every two years under the supervision of the International Federation of University Sports, and is known as (cross-country running) and is held on a clear and defined path with distinctive flags or stripes to indicate the race route.
